Talk Of The Town-Nuclear...But what it is???

Nuclear....

When you hear this word, what will come into your mind initially?
Nuclear bomb, radiation, loss of life and even lose to nation. When you get deeper, nuclear electricity, right or wrong arguments and other political issues.

But what nuclear really is?

Every single atom in the universe carries an unimaginably powerful battery within its heart called nucleus.
When a single atom splits into two or two different atoms combine together, energy is produced(according to Einstein's mass energy equation E=mc^2).

This nuclear energy, often called Type-1 fuel, is more powerful than conventions. Type 0 fuel which is of coal, petroleum, natural gas and fossil fuel.

How much powerful nuclear is?

Energy produced by...

1 Kg of Uranium
Million gallons of Gasoline

    =

When you burn Coal of about 10,000 tonnes which can be carried in a large goods train, the energy produced by that coal will be equal to the amount of energy produced by 500 kg of Uranium, which can be carried even in a car boot.

When we use Thorium,an alternative nuclear fuel which is more abundant in India,
we need only 62.5 kg to produce the same amount of energy...

10000 Tones  of coal          =      500 kg of natural uranium             =        62.5 kg of natural thorium

In India, thorium reserves are abundant along the coast of Kerala. If India develops Thorium based technology for power production, there is no need for India to import coal,oil,etc...at higher rates.

Did Graham Bell discovered Telephone???

Centuries back, if you want to contact your loved one, either you have to send messages through pigeons, send messengers or otherwise you have to meet them personally.

But what now??? Just one Phone call!!!

Whom do you want to say thanks? Is that Alexander Graham Bell, who discovered telephone???

Alexander Graham Bell was granted a patent for his invention on March 7, 1876 and his device could transmit speech electrically. Bell and Watson were the first to transmit speech one could understand.

But are you sure that he was the first person to discover telephone?
No one else ever tried with that work before???

It is Antonio Meucci...

The great Italian inventor filed a patent caveat (temporary right for the invention) in 1874 for an invention he later called the "teletrofono" involving electronic communications. He was unable to raise sufficient funds to pay his way through the patent application process. So he can't register his invention permanently.

In March 1876, Alexander Graham Bell, who conducted experiments in the same laboratory where Meucci's materials had been stored, was granted a patent and was thereafter credited with inventing the telephone.

Finally, if Meucci had been able to pay the $10 fee to maintain the caveat after 1874, no patent could have been issued to Graham Bell.

How about a discussion on Solar Ships!!!!!!!!

Around 90% of world trade is carried by the international shipping industry and it is an essential part of the modern world economy.

However ships are also responsible for the release of a range of noxious gases and carbon dioxide, therefore the International Maritime Organization (IMO) is working with the shipping industry to make world shipping more environmentally friendly.

Around 200 years ago ocean going sailing ships were reaching speeds of 16 knots or more and carrying trade across the globe. Best of all they released no harmful emissions and could cross the globe without using a drop of oil. But somehow since then, world shipping strayed off the green path and the benefits of using wind power onboard large ships was forgotten.

So this is it!!!! Now we are in need to use different natural sources to drive our ships. As we know about diesel, steam and electrical driven engines. The resource we now going to use are nuclear and solar. And we also got a use of resource from our past discovery i.e., Wind.

Here now is an company which is dedicating their applications on marine industry. They are ECO MARINE POWER are focused on helping to make 'Green Shipping' a reality via our unique design concepts and innovative technology.
Their vision is to create a sustainable future for shipping where our trade routes will be served by vessels that are part sailing ship and part solar ship. Their solutions and designs tap into the limitless energy of the wind and sun with our cutting edge Aquarius MRE SystemTM leading the way.

Not only will a solution like the Aquarius wind and solar power system reduce emissions, but it will also save ship owners and shipping lines money by reducing fuel costs.

Can Plants Eat Bones?

bone eating plant
Just imagine a situation when plants can eat bones of all dead animals and humans. Can that be  possible????

Saral Baweja and Nishi Paliwal says "Yes". Both school students hailing from New Delhi, presented a research paper titled “Production of Bio Soil-Enhancer by Phosphate Solubilizing action of Bacillus subtills on bones”.

Confused..................................................?

They are on a mission for producing organic fertilizers from bones of dead animals which won’t decompose for many years.

They discovered that a certain kind of bacteria named Bacillus subtills have the ability to convert insoluble phosphorus present in bones into soluble phosphorus, making fertilizer organic in nature which can be easily absorbed by plants.
This Bone meal (a mixture of crushed bones and soil from poultry and livestock industry) used as a slow release fertilizer, can be easily procured from a fertilizer shops.

The short term goal of increasing plant yield ends up harming environment and soil in long run. But this organic substitute will not do such harm with a produce that is healthier & better.
